NOTE – Due to the hotel we were calling into having poor Internet connectivity, the quality of this episode is not up to the usual Eh Team standard. We are still releasing this for our listeners who want to hear a completely unedited recording with the Canadian team at the end of Day 3 as they prepare to help David Caplan become World Champion.
Welcome to the late-night Worlds edition, recorded Saturday Nov 19 after Day 3 of Worlds. Episode 60 guest-stars Worlds 2011 Canadian competitors Alex Hayne, Noah Long, and a quiet Dan Lanthier, discussing the tournament so far with the Eh Team on the eve of the top 8 of the last Magic Worlds Championship as an international Pro Tour format.

Just catching up on casts. While I've been a loyal listener since Ep 1, this is the first I couldn't listen to. I got half way through and got so frustrated by the choppy sound that I gave up. I'm sure Alex is a great guy with lots to say, but you should have cut him when it became obvious it wasn't going to work instead of sacrificing the whole cast. Looking forward to catching up on the rest! :)
Just wanted to know which person the guy mentioned at the 11:40 mark of the cast he talks about how Asuka, Shutei (No idea the spelling) impresses him watching him at the Grand Prix..
Which Grand Prix? Is there video coverage? What is the Shutei Asuka's name?? I want to watch him play because it sounded like he would be worth watching...
please give me the info
Hey Gus, look up Shouta Yasooka. I think Alex was just referring to watching him play at Worlds, but maybe there are old videos of Yasooka. He is arguably the best active Japanese player.
Hey fellas. Just wanted to drop a note to say any Eh Team is better than no Eh Team. I thought the silences were actually quite funny. Especially when you know Scotty cant understand a word of what someone is saying and covers it up with a, "Yeeeeaaahhh...." Hilarious.
Plus fuck all those people who say too much EDH talk. There are tons of casts about standard and one about commander so please more commander talk. Just listened to you dude bros on commandercast and it was wicked awesome!
JayBoosh is funny in everything he does. Seriously Jay reading the newspaper would be funny. Hearing him tell everybody to shutup, just shut up makes me lol everytime.
Love the cast, keep it up.
I just wanted to say as a Canadian what you guys do is awesome. I live in Saskatchewan and i must say that listening to you guys is a hoot and listening to the perspectives of Canadian magic is a real treat. I really want to speak to KYT in this next little blurb as he seems to have a lot of pull with the site.
As a player from SK, its hard for me to really go to any tournaments that are really worth it. As SCG's are too far away and Alberta doesn't seem to found of us, we really only have Winnipeg as an option for larger scale tournaments, which is sad as we live in a very good Magic community with very good players. I was curious if we could somehow manage to set up a Canadian circuit, similar to the SCG's. They don't seem that difficult to organize and we would only really need to have them in the larger commutes in EACH province.
I think if we got this to be promoted enough within the Canadian community we could really garner a large following, as with Nationals not really leading into anything anymore there really isn't any "end game" in Canada anymore. And as CEO of ManaDeprived, i thought it would be best to ask you if you had any ideas about this or have talked to WotC or SCG or even TCGPlayer to try and either get them to come here or get ideas to start our own Circuit.
Even Scotty or Jay, whoever can answer would be great. I for one want to get more involved with the community and after seeing David's amazing performance at World's it gives me even more motivation to try and compete and do well and hopefully one day make it to my own deck tech.
Regardless, keep up the good work and i can't wait to listen to the next cast. Nothing pleases me more than to look up Mana Deprived or 60Cards and see that new podcast waiting for me to listen to.
all the best,
Dylan Edgar.
DylanEdgar First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to write me this comment. the goal at Mana Deprived has always been to push Canadian Magic as far as possible.
You mentioned the idea of a Canadian circuit. Well, Kyle Ryc, one of the country's most prominent judges, experimented with this when he helped start the Canadian Magic Tour last year. The series only had 3 stops: Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. However, I believe Kyle is going to be using this experience to see what he can do next year.
As for me, I would be interested in involving myself with some sort of tournament series in Canada, but I really don't think anyone is willing to take on such a big financial risk. Not right now at least.
I would definitely be interested in helping you to find ways to grow the game in Saskatchewan though. People here do not even think the game is even alive out there, but if there is sign of life, we need to figure out how to grow it.
Thanks again.
Kar Yung Tom i assure you its alive here. Its not very prominent, but we have an FNM that gets to be 40 players here: and thats just regina. I know that in Saskatoon there is a big player base and the Prerelease in the Regina stores between the two surpassed 100 people, with many more in Saskatoon as well. However i think whats truly missing is something competitive. I know a lot of players that are very good here that just can't travel as much as we would like. I, personally, would like to try and attend the next GP. Im just hoping its near by so i can actually attend it.
i heard about the Canadian Circuit but i didn't know how much he was continuing it. I realize the financials suck but if we could somehow get a connection of stores to try and help minimize the costs i think its possible. The first step is finding the clientel.
Have you thought of making a Canadian Forum?
Thanks for replying to my comment KYT.
Dylan
Hmm. Well I appreciate that you guys got this exclusive team Canada interview and a worlds coverage aspect, I think you should have waited for either a better connection or for Kyle to work his magic. This was way hard to listen to and I almost turned this episode off. Yikes it was that bad. Kyle, please have the authority to veto kyt from posting anything without your masters touch. My ears now have been to the pound me in the ass prison. Since I hate to leave only negative comments I will say that you guys still rock and I look forward to the next epsiode. Oh, btw kyt you now have "I love you" "I love it" and "love you" who knew that the ehteam had so much love..talk about how one loves it raaaaaaaaaawww...
Fabulous Thanks for the encouragement and feedback Fabio! Like we said in the notes above, we'll be making sure that future episodes are up to our usual quality. But despite the connection problems, we're glad you did listen to it, as this one had some great moments and content that we just didn't want to deprive our listeners of the chance to hear it.Sharing the love, that's what the Eh Team's all about! :-)
This was awkwardly fun, considering I was there for most of this. Heart-crushing to watch the team do so well and yet end up so far away from their goal.
How is this premium content? WTF? See you next week.
JonathanMedina Needs #MoreMedina
Should've appealed.
Oh boy.....this was probably the worst cast yet,...i now appreciate Kyle even more.....couldnt understand a fucking thing.....please please dont do this again.....thanks
See you next week ;)
