Introducing Team ManaDeprived
ManaDeprived has grown a lot over the past 12 months. It has become the face of a growing Canadian Magic population. Canadian Magic is booming, and support for this site has grown exponentially after a fantastic professional season for Canadians. In light of this; we would like to take this opportunity to present Team ManaDeprived!
This team is composed of a core group of dedicated players who will work towards continuing our success. The players on this team will prepare for each Pro Tour, whether they are qualified or not, to ensure that Canada maintains its position on the international stage.
ManaDeprived was founded on the principles of elevating Canadian magic and connecting players from such a geographically dispersed country. This will never be forgotten. Canadian players who qualify for Pro Tours will not be left to fend for themselves; the team is meant to be approachable and helpful to ensure that players new to the Pro Tour are prepared.
Without further ado, ManaDeprived.com would like to present the members of the Team ManaDeprived!

Alex Hayne is our problem solver. Master of puzzles, he is the one we turn to when we are unsure what to do on a complicated board state, or when we are missing a slot for our deck. Alex also can brew; he came up with the PT-winning Hallelujah deck list as well as the mono red list that Caplan brought to a top 4 finish at Worlds.
David Caplan

Occupation: Student
Magic Accomplishments:

David Caplan, better known as “Cappy,” is our team organizer. Not only does he book hotels and plan trips, he also makes sure the team testing is on track. Cappy organizes our testing, recording our results and helps to tune our decks to perfection. He is also our resident Eternal expert, and his expertise in older formats often crosses over in extremely beneficial ways. Without Caplan’s tuning and careful note taking, the Hallelujah deck would not have been ready for Pro Tour play.
Marc Anderson

Occupation: Financial Advisor

Marc Anderson is a player known mainly for his enthusiasm for draft, but who has steadily put up strong results, and continues to improve across all formats. Marc is the player who you will see constantly grinding out games, trying to seek greater understanding. Marc is always unafraid to make his opinions known, and provides a fresh perspective on decks and formats. His focus on perfecting draft ensured that the team had a positive record in Limited at the Pro Tour.
Pascal Maynard

GP Costa Rica 2012 -8th
Went up the elevator at GP Atlanta 2011
Went up AND down the elevator at GP Atlanta 2012
Canadian Magic Tour 2011 – 1st
Pascal Maynard, the youngest member of our team, can often appear quiet. However, the wealth of knowledge that he acquires is huge, and is an incredible resource for the team. Pascal is also a player not afraid to put in the work, and he will often be found battling our brews against each other, or providing input on where mistakes were made. For Avacyn Restored draft, he was the one on the team who first figured out how good U/B control was, which allowed both him and Alex to 3-0 their respective drafts at the Pro Tour.
Noah Long

Age: 26
Occupation: Ballet Dancer
Magic Accomplishments:
Pro Tour San Diego 2010 – 29th
World Championships Chiba 2010 – 77th
Worlds Team Championship 2011 – 5th
National Championships 2010 – 6th
National Championships 2011 – 2nd
GP Columbus 2007 – 33rd
GP San Diego 2012 – 21st
GP Columbus 2012 – 42nd
Noah Long doesn’t even know what ‘the box’ is; he is just so far outside it. Noah continues to provide new angles to the team, as well as revolutionary ideas. His grasp of the metagame also allows the team to get a step up on the competition. Noah’s initial deck ideas showed the team how powerful Miracles could be for the Pro Tour, proving him to be an invaluable asset.
Dan Lanthier

Age: 24
Occupation: Student
Magic Accomplishments:
Pro Tour Honolulu 2009 – 49th
Worlds Team Championship 2011 – 5th
Canadian Nationals 2008 – 1st
Canadian Nationals 2011 – 3rd
GP Philadelphia 2008 – 15th
GP Atlanta 2011 – 26th
GP Pittsburgh 2011 – 39th
GP Baltimore 2012 – 63rd
GP Indianapolis 2012 – 49th
Level 4 Pro Status 2008 and 2009
Dan Lanthier is the realist of the group. When an idea gets too out of hand, Dan knows how to tone it down. His focus on the job at hand also helps when the team is just fooling around, and Dan helps to get us all back on track. In playtesting, Dan is not afraid to play the bad guy, gladly sleeving up the best deck and doing battle. For PT Barcelona, had the miracle deck not panned out, Dan was exploring other avenues and would have ensured that we had a good deck regardless.
