The three guys compare their favourite cards in Gatecrash draft, and review some of the Standard decks to watch out for at the Pro Tour.

Man I was done with work and forgot that I hadn’t posted my huge post. Now it’s all gone. Gotta run it back now. You guys made up for the lost episode, then posted another one within less than a week, great damn work. I was just figuring I had to wait till next Monday, and then BAM there it is.
You bring back these guys that I haven’t heard from in a while and it always reminds me how cool some of these guys are. Matthias would be one of those characters. Team Panic is huge. That’s a long list of guys.
I am glad that it’s more of just a shift as opposed to everyone going to SCG. SCG is like that huge conglomerate now. They overcharge for their cards, they are trying to pull everyone to their side and absorb everyone, etc. But yeah CFB’s run can’t last forever, even though they were snatching up everyone.
When it comes to stores I try to give all of my business to not SCG. They have great customer service, but their prices aren’t the most competitive. I save a good amount of money on TCGPlayer, CFB, and of course LEGITMTG. I will continue to use these guys mostly until one of them is as large as SCG, then fuck those guys. Median, I am looking at you, I will support you until you’re as big as SCG. Well I will even then if you keep the pricing as it is now, do that and you have a customer for life.
Draft and sealed are quite different and can have a good amount of different functionality. Knowing how to build your deck from a sealed pool is quite an involved process. In draft you can easily end up drafting multiples of the tools you need to succeed. Sealed, you get your packs, but it’s much more random. Draft and sealed are the 2 types that I play outside of EDH. Standard and those other formats cost a lot and are a pain most of the time, but I do love hearing you guys talk about it. I get my EDH deck ideas from crazy stuff you guys detail in all of the casts.
I had Dimir success running Esper also. Extort is exactly what you need for Dimir. I am quite liking Esper. The Boros deck didn’t end up doing well at all the stuff I have done. I ran Dimir and splashed into Gruul for the combat trick stuff, which ends up doing awesome. The problem with Simic is that late game you don’t have guys to evolve all your little guys. I ended up running the larger guys to evolve my Simic guys, but the Zameck guildmage ended up helping a lot, being able to move counters is awesome. Simic just needs some help as Dimir does. But those evolve 1 drop flyers put in work for me. But yes, for Simic definitely splash some Gruul. That Sapphire Drake won stuff for me a ton. He’s great.
Madcap skills is freaking hilarious. I love that card in sealed and draft. It wrecks shop.
The frog in a blender deck looks hilarious. That dang Reckoneer though, dang it I hate that guy. But yeah Blind Obedience is great. That card won me games in sealed.
Man you guys are some party planning animals. This sounds amazing. I wish I was much closer to Canada. This sounds like something you guys should be planning and doing for each GP, etc. Seriously this could be the best thing ever. Seriously guys, hit up WOTC and whoever else you need to, this could be as big as the UFC after parties in Vegas. Having an actual organized event like this stands to be spectacular.
That whole GP/Pro Tour point setup sounds crazy. It obviously doesn’t apply to me because I am not traveling every other weekend. I wouldn’t ever do that shit, it’s terrible and not fun at all. While not seeing these guys all the time is kind of sad, but damn they have lives, they need a break. Magic is gaining a large amount of popularity currently and I want to see it continue to grow. I would like to see these pros still enjoy playing the game I enjoy.
Definitely keep us up on the coverage. I would really like to see it all. Fly me out and I will be the cameraman!! I will get it all. I will do press at the Pro Tour, I will be the cameraman. I will bring an awesome tunic as Median would say.

Mathias Hunt?!? I can’t even watch SCG events when he does commentary how am I gonna sit through a podcast with him? No thanks I’ll pass, I’ll tune in next week when Medina is back not tuning in for captain pork pie.
